Another James Cameron and Sam Worthington flick is in the works and it’s NOT an Avatar sequel.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Avatar director and star are in talks to come aboard a project called Myth that 20th Century Fox is looking to pick up. Almost nothing else is known about it, except that it’s been pitched by a writer named Will Staples, and it’s a big action/sci-fi adventure.
Staples Who? He has virtually no writing credits for film (he has un-produced scripts, but lets call him a film virgin), but chances are you’ve nerdgasm-ed over his other works. See, he’s a video-game writer and a pretty good one too. He’s responsible for a little series you might have heard of named Call of Duty, which happens to be one of the best-selling games of all time. OK, I’m listening.
Yea.. I don’t have any other information. All I can say is, that’s gotta be one hell of a script to get the attention of James Cameron. Am I right?
Does this mean Avatar sequels are postponed? No. Not that I know of anyway. With this particular project, it”s been said that Cameron is interested in being an executive producer on the project, and not directing, while Worthington is attached as a producer, not a star.
The project is in the very early stages of development, a lot could change over time, but with the players involved, I my ears are perked in curiosity. Again, anything that can get King of the World, James Cameron to stroke his chin in approval has got to be amazing! Will keep you posted as news develops.
