Did you dig the film adaptation of Marvels Thor? Personally, we here at Nerd Bastards thought it played out predictably and lacked some depth, but all things considered, it was a fun movie, offering a great sense of adventure. I can’t imagine how a sequel would play out, but a second installment would be welcomed. And, a sequel we will get. Walt Disney Pictures have confirmed it.
Thor grossed $437 million worldwide, and Marvel Studios has a public mandate to release two movies a year, so we can’t can’t say this comes as much of a surprise.
As it stands now, in 2013 we’ll get Iron Man 3 on May 3rd and Thor 2 later that Summer. Chris Hemsworth is contracted to return, as is love interest Natalie Portman. However, director Kenneth Branagh will not.
Yep, Thor 2 would be Branaghless! You’d think they would keep him around and build on that, instead of taking another risk with a new director that could potentially do worse.
