Legendary Pictures’ new Godzilla movie, which has been in development for a long goddamn time, is moving forward. In fact, it’s about to get all Dark Knighty.
Screenwriter David Goyer has been hired to pen the script. For those of you not familiar with his work he wrote Dark City, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, and The Dark Knight Rises. So in other words Godzilla will be “the hero that Tokyo deserves, but not the one it needs right now… and so we’ll hunt him… because he can take it… because he’s not a hero… he’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector… a Dark Lizard”
Furthermore, Deadline adds that the idea is to “approach the film and its characters in the most authentic manner possible.” Basically, it won’t be anything like the terrible 1998 Roland Emmerich movie. (Or so everyone hopes).
Gareth Edwards (Monsters) is set to direct the film.
Are you excited for a new Godzilla film or do you think Hollywood should stop before we have a repeat of 1998?
