Robert Downey Jr. is headed back to the big screen, as he reprises his role as the world’s most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes. The trailer, released today, of the next installement to the Sherlock Holmes franchise is titled, “Sherlock Holmes:Game of Shadows”, and has Jude Law returning as Sherlock’s trusted colleague Dr. Watson, and introduces a new leading lady by the name of Noomi Rapace.
The synopsis of the film is as follows:
“Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room…until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large—Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris)—and not only is he Holmes’ intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective. When the Crown Prince of Austria is found dead, the evidence, as construed by Inspector Lestrade (Eddie Marsan), points to suicide. But Sherlock Holmes deduces that the prince has been the victim of murder—a murder that is only one piece of a larger and much more portentous puzzle, designed by one Professor Moriarty.”
The trailer below shows how greatly this franchise is being put together, and how witty and precisely the action, comedy, and mystery are put together to make a wonderful film that captures the essence of Sherlock Holmes. After the first film, I must say that I was captivated by the attention to detail in costume, speech, and mysticism of the times. Of course if you watch the trailer below, not only will you catch Sherlock Holmes demonstrating his fighting prowess, but you’ll catch Sherlock totally going Drag! I’m sure Ru Paul would give him a lesson or two on proper facial makeup wear, but by all means this trailer give us a peek of some good things to come when it hits theaters.
