If you thought Star Wars couldn’t get any more amazing, well you’re wrong! Paul Jacob French shows all Star Wars fans that geeky passions can be used to make a difference. French, a native Australian, is walking all across Australia in the name of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which aims to help make the lives of ill children and their families more manageable. This trek will take him from Pert to Sydney in a total of over 3,100 miles.

French is hoping to raise $50,000 by the end of his long journey, and he hopes to walk 25 miles per day, 5 days a week and reach Sydney by Christmas. His mission page at Everyday Hero (where you may go and donate if you feel so inclined):

“Over the course of the trek I will cross 4 states and cover approximately 5000km in modified storm trooper armor. The plan for now is to push a lightweight buggy with needed supplies an average distance of 35-40km for 5 days a week until the trek is complete.”

The Mary Sue says that the reason he is walking around in a Stormtrooper outfit is because:

“he is a member of the 501st Legion, an “all-volunteer organization” that seeks to spread the good word aboutStar Wars and everything it entails. They work with a number of charities including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Special Olympics.”

The 501st  Legion has mentioned French otherwise known as TK 6283 on their homepage:

“To prepare for this monumental journey, [French] has already completed the RunMelb Half-Marathon while wearing his Stormtrooper armor, and has been training regularly to complete the cross-country trip.”
