LEGO Update! Official Marvel & DC Lines Announced, Plus the Trailer for the LEGO ‘Star Wars’ TV Special
Nothing brought me more joy as a child than an afternoon with a tub of LEGO bricks. Kids today though, man, they have it great. Not only is LEGO still a staple of children’s toys but their ever expanding partnerships create some of the coolest LEGO collections. Announced yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con, LEGO is partnering with Marvel and DC for a new line of LEGO Super Heroes. I’ll let the enormity of this awesomeness sink in. OMG! LEGO SUPER HEROES!
There’s already been a LEGO Batman line of toys, which then branched into a LEGO Batman video game, but now kids can collect the entire Justice League! All right, let’s be honest, it won’t only be kids. I’ll be buying up LEGO DC characters, you’ll be buying LEGO DC characters or possibly Marvel, collectors will be buying up every available minifig. Shit, after these new LEGO Super Heroes are released there won’t be any left for kids!
As you’ll be able to tell for yourself when you look at the gallery below, the Marvel figures are still in a preliminary stage. For one, the Hulk has no face. In the Marvel line I particularly like Wolverine, those LEGO claws are great. Iron Man’s helmet looks weird though, too big for his body. But the DC figures look ready to hit the shelves at a moments notice. Just look at that Wonder Woman! She’s beautiful. Superman and Poison Ivy are new figures as well, with Batman, the Joker and Catwoman getting some updating. Note the logo on Batman’s chest. Special editons of Batman and Green Lantern are being made available too, but there will be only about 1,500 of those, so good luck snagging one. here will also be super heroes in LEGO’s Hero Factory line, which are figures you build yourself. In this line will be Batman, Green Lanter, the Hulk and Iron Man.
Here’s the teaser for the new LEGO Batman,
Check out the gallery of LEGO minifigs below the cut (thanks to ComicBricks for the images!) and let us know what you think about the new line of LEGO Super Heroes. Also below the cut is the trailer for the LEGO Star Wars TV Special, give it a watch!
If you haven’t play a LEGO Star Wars video game you are depriving yourself of some of the best Star Wars…ever! The humor is top notch, funnier than either the Robot Chicken or Family Guy parodies. And when you watch the trailer for their TV special you can see the same humor. The LEGO Star Wars TV Special airs this Friday, July 22nd, on Cartoon Network at 7pm.
