Their brilliant TV show Spaced was a U.K. hit, but most of the U.S. and the rest of the world was first introduced to Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright when their homage to zombie films, Shaun of the Dead, blasted into the nerdosphere.. They followed that up with an homage to action films called Hot Fuzz and and swore another film would follow. Since then they’re all constantly asked about the long rumored conclusion to the trilogy, lovingly referred to as either the “Blood and Ice Cream” or “Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy.”
Sitting at Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2011 for an ‘Attack the Block” panel (which looks brilliant by the way) was Edgar Wright and Joe Carnahan. During the fan Q&A portion of the panel a fan asked on the status of a third film collaboration. Edgar said the following:
Uh, me and Simone Peg …seems like were both gonna start writing something next month.
Sadly, nothing else was mentioned. Regardless, woo hoo to that, right?
In addition to another Pegg and Frost joint, Edgar is constantly pressured on the status of Marvel’s Ant-Man script. Ant-Man, of course being a super hero who can shrink to the size of ant and communicate with them telepathically; often seen hanging out with The Avengers.
Me and Joe., we just handed in a draft on Monday. In the time we’ve started writing it, we made three movies It’s a project we keep returning to because we’re very excited about it. And, the script is getting better and better. We just handed script in Monday and done some concept art. So it’s something that’s gonna happen soon.
Normally I’d comment on this, but I don’t have the time. I wicked behind on coverage. I can’t share any deep thoughts. I will say, that Edgar is the shit. I’m fascinated with what he could do with Ant-Man.
