On August 19th Conan the Barbarian will be slashing it’s way into theaters. Reviews for this flick haven’t even rolled in yet, but a sequel is already waiting to be developed. It’s no surprise really, the Conan property is franchise material. However, star Jason Momoa wrote it all by himself. May Crom help us.
With the recently revived franchise on it’s way very soon Jason sat down with Crave Online for a short interview. Here’s what our new Conan had to say:
CRAVE Online: Are you signed on to do another [Conan]?
Jason Momoa: I am, as long as people go out and watch [the first one], you know what I mean?
CRAVE Online: Yeah. Is there a story you’d like to do for the next movie?
Jason Momoa: I wrote it.
CRAVE Online: Did you really?
Jason Momoa: Yeah, so we’re waiting to see if they’ll accept it.
CRAVE Online: Is it original or did you adapt it from something?
Jason Momoa: It will mostly be… It’s character-adapted, because I really want to get into more of the mythical creatures, you know?
So the sequel is going into a mythical creature direction…maybe Conan will ride a Unicorn into battle (*fingers crossed*). Hey if he understands the character it might actually help the story if he writes the initial script. With that said, let’s just wait and see if the first movie is worth it before we rush in now.
What does everyone think of Jason writing his own sequel? Is it too “diva” of him already?
