‘Back to the Future II’ Power Lace Shoes Available NOW

Yesterday we reported on a tweet from Back to the Future producer Frank Marshall saying that something big was coming, and that it was related to Back to the Future. Shortly after, it was revealed that Nike announced an event in LA that would be put on to possibly announce the real life release of the Nike MAG shoes that were worn by Marty McFly in Back to the Future II. Now we’ve got confirmation that not only will the shoes be coming out, but they will be part of a charity auction to support the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help defeat Parkinson’s disease.

The Nike Mags will be limited to only 1,500 pairs. 100 pairs will be auctioned off each day on eBay starting with the first batch tonight at 8:30 PM PST. As an added bonus, all winning donations will be matched, doubling the ability for the foundation to find a cure.

Here’s a little bit on the shoe from NIKE:

Fox, in the year 2015. It came alive, lit up and formed to Marty’s foot. The 2011 NIKE MAG shoe was designed to be a precise replica of the original from Back to the Future II. The aesthetic is an exact match, down to the contours of the upper, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent NIKE in the strap. The 2011 NIKE MAG illuminates with the pinch of the “ear” of the high top, glowing for five hours per charge.

It’s for charity, I hope it exceeds millions , but these need to be available for retail, I don’t care how much they cost. Same for the Hoverboard.

Super pissed about the whole ebay thing because just like the hoverboard I’ll never get one

    ^ Ditto the above comment

Most of the auctions are at least $3000 right now, and some are even over $6000! Really good for the charity, I was just hoping to actually, you know, buy a pair :

I wouldn’t pay that much unless they had powerlaces, charity or no….
