Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut.

Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at nerdybits@nerdbastards.com.

If you have any expectations of your children surviving the impending zombie apocalypse, then you need to start training them early. Lesson number one, no matter who they are, even your mommy, if they’re undead shoot ’em the head. (Nerd Approved)

You can grab this Star Wars X-Wing inflatable sled on sale right now, to which I respond, holy shit there’s a Star Wars X-Wing sled!?! This could make winter slighty more bearable. (Nerd Approved)

Hackers at Arduino Arts have brought Pixar’s famous lamp to life in what must be the most adorable of Dr. Frankenstein-like experiments.

It can respond to noise (“I’m trying to sleep here!”) or position (“Get me down!”), but it unfortunately can’t do what its computer-animated counterpart does best: hop.

Once it hops, though, it’ll be able to travel the world becoming smarter and learning of the oppression lamps have been suffering under for years. This could only be the beginning of the lamp uprising. (TDW: Geek)

D’awww, it means it loves you! (Justin Rampage)

George C. Scott expresses how we all feel about the upcoming changes coming to the Star Wars saga on Blu-ray. I know, George, I know. (TDW: Geek)

But, if you’re on the other side of this debate (traitor) maybe you’d like to consider Ways George Lucas Could “Fix” Other Sci-Fi Moves. Kyle Anderson of Nerdist has some “good” suggestions.

Yesterday was Star Trek‘s 45th anniversary, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t plan you weekend Star Trek bonanza! And what could be more perfect for you Star Trek marathon party than these cookies. Mmm…I’m so hungry I could bite off Chekov’s head right now. (io9)

All right, so if you’re hosting a Star Trek party you need party favors, right? Why not spring for these one of a kind, handmade by Leonard Nimoy himself,  Live Long and Prosper t-shirts? Each one is a one of a kind and are available in Nimoy’s Etsy store. Seriously, your guests will love you for it. (Geek Tyrant)

If super heroes and sci-fi action stars are our modern myths, have you ever wondered who owns them? io9 has created a splendid chart illustrating Who Owns Our Modern Myths. Make sure you click the image to embiggen.

The folks over at ScreenJunkies have comprised a list of reviews of some of the most famous hotels in movies by their famous overnight guests. Needless to say, not all reviews will be completely positive. But I did hear the Hotel for Dogs was nice, if you really, really like dogs. (Geek Tyrant)
