There’s been bits of Game of Thrones news popping up lately, and we’ve neglected to mention any. Shame on us, I know. We’ll be accepting you hate mail shortly. In the meantime, let’s share the latest buzz from Westeros.

As you’re probably well aware, they’re currently filming the second season. Winter-is-Coming.net (a great source for all your up to the minute Game of Thrones news), laid hands on our first look at season two filming. Most importantly, it’s our first look at Emmy winner, Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) and Jerome Flynn (Bronn) on set. Here’s a sample,

Check out winter-is-coming.net for the full report.

This week was also the release of Game of Thrones comic’s first issue. Written by George R.R. Martin and Daniel Abraham, art by Tommy Patterson with a cover by Alex Ross. Here’s the first page, just to wet your appetite.

To check out the entire, lengthy preview visit Newsarama. It promises to be a fantastic comic, and I’m sure one day will have a beautiful, complete collectors edition we can all drool over.

Finally, did you know they’re making a PC game based on The Song of Ice and Fire book series. Called A Game of Thrones: Genesis, this strategy game “takes place before the events of the novels, in the time of Aegon the Conqueror, and the trailer shows at least one reason why that’s a good thing: dragons!”

Umm…awesome!

The first  trailer was just released, watch it below,

I want a dragon.

Oh! One more thing, in addition to Peter Dinklage snagging his Emmy, the show also won a Creative Arts Emmy for their main title design. Okay, I admit it, this is only an excuse for me to include the show’s opening sequence. But I bet you’ll be watching it again, too. It’s addictive. The music, so good. The cool way they represent the map of Westeros. Perfect.

There’s your update on what’s happening in Westeros. Game of Thrones returns Spring 2011 which is really too far off. Hopefully soon the first season will release on DVD/Blu-ray. Re-watching the first season  and rereading the books should tide me over till spring.
