Dead Space 1 and 2 are two video game titles that I have enjoyed enough to play all the way through. Typically, I get bored, or frustrated and toss games to the way side in favor of something that offers far better instant gratification…pr0n! Not with Dead Space. I’ve found EA’s acclaimed space-survival-horror franchise to be immensely entertaining and mildly challenging. They offer amazing graphics work, good storylines, good kills and a decent amount of scares. A nail biting, ear thumping, nerve freezing game. Cripes, I’m writing a review here and I didn’t intend too. Suffice to say the game is good, good enough for me, a very casual gamer, to go ranting on about it’s splendor. So… “Thank you sir may I have another”? Indeed!
Electronic Arts hasn’t even officially announced Dead Space 3, but it’s coming. I have no idea when, but details from the game have (apparently) been leaked. The details come from a supposed EA mole.
Unlike the first two games Dead Space 3 will not take place on a spaceship, this story is set on a planet called Tau Volantis, which is an icy planet where the character Isaac Clarke will have to fight through white-out blizzard conditions. Uh…so this is Dead Space: The Thing basically? Not that much of a stretch I guess given the Necromorphs.
Here are the SPOILERIFIC details (via suliconera):
Early in Dead Space 3, Isaac crash lands on the planet. He believes he may be the only survivor and makes his way to an abandoned waystation, which he uses for shelter from the snowstorm. There he finds a survivor who is severely injured. Isaac speaks to the near dead comrade who reveals there are other survivors that trekked off to another facility. One of them is Ellie, a key character from the original Dead Space game. Isaac grabs a snowsuit and heads into the blizzard.
Later in the game, Isaac reunites with Ellie and a new character named Jennifer. The trio scale a mountain, but Jennifer is reluctant to do so. She’s a tech type excited over finding a codex and plans to reverse engineer research by a group called Rosetta to gain access to it. As they climb up the mountain, they hear a howl from below, but cannot spot what kind of creature made the sound.
The enemies in Dead Space 3 are being referred to as “the hive mind.”
I’m all for this. I really can’t argue with more Dead Space in my life. With that said, I do hope the threequel will offer something new. I dunno if “something something, necromorphs, something something, the end” is a repeat formula.
