Anger Management Alert! Old Man Chokes Kid for Killing Him in Video Game

This is one of this things where you think someone’s telling you story, and it might be made up, but it actually isn’t, and there really was a 46-year-old man that choked a 13-year-old neighbor kid for trash talking him and killing him during a particularly contentious game of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Mark Bradford, an unemployed man from St Budeaux, Plymouth, chucked his bolt – as the English would say – marched down the street to an unidentified boy’s house, burst through the door and went all “Why you little…!” on the kid after Bradford’s Black Ops character was gunned down in game.

This is the second incident of its kind in Europe, as earlier this year 20-year-old Julien Barreaux stabbed a man who killed him in a virtual knife-fight in the game Counter-Strike. I know we all want to believe that video games don’t promote real life violence, but Barreaux plotted revenge on the victim for seven months. Seven! I don’t know why he couldn’t have worked off his frustration by masturbating to pictures of Lara Croft online. Oh, and the stabbed guy survived by the way. Barely. Knife missed his heart by like an inch.

But back to Bradford, who, you know, feels pretty bad about trying to choke a kid over a video game. “It wasn’t malice,” he said. “I just grabbed him. I’ve seen him since and apologised. The injuries weren’t that bad but I do regret it.”

As to the obvious question of motive: “I’d been playing the whole day and he was baiting me and just would not shut up,” Bradford said. “I just lost it. In a moment of madness I went round to the house. I didn’t know what I was going to do.”

Regardless, someone really needs to learn to pick on someone their own size.
