To put it mildly, Batman: Arkham Asylum and its sequel Arkham City are the best super hero games ever produced. Do you know why? Because they’re carefully crafted games created with great knowledge of the source material, not rushed, crappy games trying to make a quick buck off a recent flick’s popularity. It’s a key difference. Warner Bros. has taken the time to develop these stand alone games that are easily as good if not better than the current Batman films, cartoons and comics.

In a recent interview with the LA Times, the President of Warner Bros. Interactive, Martin Tremblay, spoke about what makes their video games stand apart as well as their plans the future games,

What we have in common with our movie counterparts is that we’re following a tent-pole strategy. We’re making the serious investments it takes to build franchises, and we don’t just want to release good games, we want to be sure that we make a statement. The movie-based games business is broken, and for teen-targeted titles, we’re going to try and distance ourselves from the movies so the game stands by itself.

Here, here. I would live and die a happy gamer if another shitty, movie tie-in game was never created. Sadly, I know that’s an unachievable dream, but I can hope to see more well made, well developed games like Asylum and City, right Mr. Tremblay?

Warner will launch a new Lord of the Rings game in November and a Hobbit title in 2012 before Peter Jackson’s movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes out that December. The game is one of the studio’s top releases for next year, along with a Lego Batman sequel and a game featuring a superhero from Warner’s DC Comics unit that Tremblay wouldn’t name. The company also is targeting younger players with a second Lego Harry Potter in November.

Sweet! Okay, so I might be one of the few really pumped about another Lego Batman, but what’s really awesome is the news of a new superhero game! Who do you think it’ll be? Will it be in the same framework as their Batman games? I’d wager a bet it’ll be a Superman game. Man of Steel is still in production and while I’m positive it won’t be a movie tie-in game it wouldn’t hurt to time it appropriately for the film’s release. ‘Course, Green Lantern is still a hot property, could they be hoping to develop a game around the Corp?

Who would I really love see get a video game? Especially if it was created with as much care and love of the character as Asylum and City. Duh. Wonder Woman. Oh please, oh please, oh please let it be a Wonder Woman game! Can you just imagine how badass it could be!? With the popularity of games like God of War, Wonder Woman’s constant stuggle with the gods of Olympus and all their hellish minions would be a fantasic backdrop for a video game. Hell, I’d be content with blatant God of War ripoff with Diana and her lass in place of Kratos and his blades. But I know they could do better. Come on, Warner Bros., you seem reluctant to make a Wonder Woman film, you seriously fucked up the Wonder Woman television series, at least give me a decent video game for the Amazon princess.

My hopes and dreams for Wonder Woman to be given the spotlight she deserves aside, who do you think Warner Bros. will develop the new game for? Is it most likely Superman or is their another character at DC more deserving?
