Dark Tower Movie Trilogy Morphs Into HBO Series

Producer Brian Gazer revealed in an interview with MTV that HBO has agreed to the televison series part for the epic Television/Movie combination of The Dark Tower!

“We’re going to do ['The Dark Tower'] with HBO. We’ll do the TV with HBO, and we’ll do the movie with… to be determined. We’ll do it right.”

With past successes like Rome, The Sopranos, Boardwalk, Oz, and many others, HBO is a great place for this production to land. Of course the expectations will now only grow in fans so Ron Howard is really going to have to reach deep to bring something amazing to the production values.

Universal passed on the movie side of the project so director Howard and producer Gazer are currently hunting for another movie studio to take on the project. The news of locking down HBO will certainly help in that search. Full steam ahead for The Dark Tower, what do you think about HBO stepping up?

    Better than SyFy stepping in it… would truly be shit then.  Much less dropped.
    Hell…if I were with HBO, I’d suggest doing all of it….   do the film and the series.  Be win-win for them.

    This is what I have said needs to happen with this from the begining. And they are gonna have to do it almost like 300. Too much crazy shit to try to do it straight.
