How could anyone consider not ever bringing back one of Doctor Who‘s most interesting, dashing, funny and overall AWESOME companions?! It’s almost unthinkable! Unfortunately, John Barrowman, Captain Jack himself is doubting he’ll ever return to the role on Doctor Who.
Barrowman recently finished up the fourth season of Torchwood, which aired on Starz in the U.S. and BBC in the U.K., and with it’s underwhelming viewership the future of the series is unknown. I still think it was a terrible move to Starz, a channel I and I’d wager many other U.S. fans don’t subscribe to. But regardless of Torchwood‘s fate, WHY U NO BRING JACK BACK TO WHO, MOFFAT?
In recent interviews the question of Jack’s return keeps being brought up. When Geek Files posed the question Barrowman responded,
Everybody keeps asking me and if I’m offered I would love to. I think it would be great. There is no plan to do that. No one has come forward. I don’t think it’ll happen. I’m always open for it, but who knows?
Well, that’s frustrating. Hey, he’s at least guaranteed to show up in the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special, right? RIGHT?
I think it would be great to be involved with the 50th Anniversary, since Jack was such a big part of the Whoworld. But, having said that, nothing’s been said, so I don’t sit and wait.
I don’t want fans to think that I don’t want to do it because I would love to, but if I’m not asked I’m not going to bang down the door—I’ll just move onto something else.
Come on, they’d have to include him. With the recent, sad departures of some of the Doctor’s closest companions (Sarah Jane, Brigadier) and some former Doctor’s flat out refusing to return, you can’t exclude those actors who actually want to return!
What do you think, are we jumping the gun assuming Jack will never return? The 50th Anniversary is still a few years off, will he at least return then?
