James Bond 23 Officially Has A Lame Title

It’s Long been rumored and today it was made official. The 23rd (if you don’t count the ones not made by United Artists/MGM) James Bond Movie is called…

Sky Fall.

Director Sam Mendes (American Beauty), producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and cast members Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Bérénice Marlohe and Naomie Harris were all on hand to make the official announcement and leak a little information about the secret agents next mission.

The storyline will take the secret agent to London, China, Turkey and Scotland. It does not connect with the previous Bond movies that stared Craig, but will be an entirely new adventure.

It will see Bond’s loyalty tested to M, his superior, while espionage headquarters MI6 faces an attack.

Other stars in the film will be Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Javier Bardem as the films big bad villain. Mendes says that the names of Fiennes and Finney’s characters are withheld because Bond fans might know them. Or they might not.

It will be released in the UK on 26 October 2012.

They have no one in mind at this time for the theme song.

Ok, I am really trying to be excited for this. For a long time it looked as though it would never happen, what with MGM going bankrupt and all. I think Craig is fantastic as the 6th (if you don’t count the ones not made by United Artists/MGM) Bond.

It’s just, the title “Sky Fall” bugs me, it sounds more like the fake name a production would go under than an actual movie title. Broccoli says the title “has emotional context which will be revealed in the film.” I say it makes me think of chicken little.

What do you think of Bond 23’s title? Let us know below.
