Keven Grevioux‘s graphic novel I, Frankenstein has been in the works with Lakeshore Entertainment for quite some time. The initial plan was to have the director of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Patrick Tatopoulos spearhead this project, but the duty has now fallen unto Stuart Beattie. The main character of Adam Frankenstein will be played by Aaron Eckhart.
Recent news has claimed that Bill Nighy is currently in talks for the role of the villain. Socratis Otto will play the sidekick who is tasked with the job of tracking down Adam Frankenstein.
The film is set to be released in February of 2013. Here are some tidbits from the press release:
I FRANKENSTEIN is a modern-day epic: Frankenstein’s creature, ADAM, has survived to present day due to a genetic quirk in his creation. Making his way to a dark, gothic metropolis, he finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans. As writer/director, Stuart Beattie said, “Mary Shelly’s story is about the creation of the first human being. This is the story about that being becoming human.”
