It’s been announced Syfy has ordered a pilot script for a one-hour show based on the DC Comics character, Booster Gold. Writing the script is Andrew Kreisberg (Fringe) and joining him in executive producing will be Greg Berlanti (Brothers & Sisters, No Ordinary Family, Green Lantern). The project will be coming from Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television. Both Kreisberg and Berlanti have also worked on other Syfy shows Warehouse 13 and Red Faction: Origins.
So, you know Booster Gold, right? The star of DC’s mighty roster of superheroes, the hero of the heroes, if you will. At least, that’s who Booster Gold thought he would be. Booster’s plan was to swoop in from the 23rd century and use his advanced technology to save the day. Joined by Skeets, his flying encyclopedia robot side kick containing the knowledge of just about every publicized superhero event, Booster could have made himself the most famous hero ever. Unfortunately for him he’s excellent at being in the spotlight but terrible at being a superhero.
Maybe a new television series will award Booster the fame he desires. The Syfy pilot and, if greenlit, the series following would deal with Booster learning what it takes to be a hero, and that just being in the right place at the right time isn’t enough. I’m excited to learn who they’ll cast as the attention whoring hero, who do you think would make a perfect Booster Gold? For the voice of Skeets? Billy West, who else!
