Total Film is claiming to have the official breakdown of the promised six-minute prologue for The Dark Knight Rises. Obviously, if you don’t want to know what could, maybe, possibly happen in the opening minutes of Christopher Nolan‘s finale, stop reading. The rest of us hoping this will allow us to skip out on Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, the film the prologue footage is attached to, let’s continue on.
We already know this opening bit will focus on Tom Hardy‘s Bane, I’m thinking origin story. Here’s what we might see,
Bane and his mercenaries hijack a military plane transporting a dictator of a country which is in unrest (think Saddam Hussein type figure). He successfully kills the leader, but makes some mistakes along the way and is unable to safely land the plane.
Because of the resulting injuries from the accident, he has to undergo complicated surgeries and that is how he winds up with that scar down his neck and the need for the mask to numb the pain.
Interesting. I’m guessing venom is used to numb rather than pump up with heaving muscles like in the comics. Who Bane is has obviously been changed, according to this source, to better fit in with the Nolanverse,
He is raised by Ra’s al Ghul (Bruce Wayne’s old mentor) and his upbringing mirrors that of Bruce Wayne. It’s a mirror of Bruce, except it’s darker and twisted.
Bane is trained to be an assassin for the League of Shadows. He kills political figures that are deemed unfit by the LOS. So he is a bit of a Che Guevara/Jason Bourne type character.
If this is true I see no reason Talia or even Ra’s can’t show up. I don’t care what Liam Neeson’s been saying, I bet he’ll cameo. This all sounds very plausible to me, tying everything back to Batman Begins is very likely and probably the best way to wrap up the trilogy.
So what do you think? Is this likely what we’ll see in the prologue? Do you like Bane’s new origin?
