Starship Troopers Remake on the Way

The Hollywood remakes keep rolling along with the announcement that producer Neal Moritz is next turning his attention to a reboot of Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 sci-fi film Starship Troopers, which was LOOSLY based on the novel by Robert A. Heinlein. Vulture reports that Thor and X-Men: First Classscreenwriters Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz have come on board to write the script.

Normally this NerdBastard would greet this kind of news with a loud *SIGH* and yawn, but in the case of a Starship Troopers remake . . . perhaps they can . . .

GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME!

Don’t get me wrong, I love that campy movie and it’s sequels. Starship Troopers is on the list of movies that can ”trap me” and steal a Saturday afternoon away from me before I know it, but I am a huge fan of the Heinlein’s book. When you compare the two you feel pretty much like the picture of them dissecting the bug above. My reaction is pretty much like Dennis’s character. She pukes her guts out over digging through the bugs guts.

In this remake I want:

POWER SUITS

BALD FEMALE PILOTS

RICO”S FATHER AS A CORPORAL

INDIVIDUAL POWER SUIT POD DROPS

POWER SUITS

Casper Van Dien, Dina Meyer, Denise Richards, Jake Busey, Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Muldoon and Michael Ironside starred in the original, in which Earth is at war with a race of giant alien insects. Maybe Casper or the others can get cameo roles, or perhaps play older officers.

I would love to see Ron Perlman or Ray Stevenson as Sergant Zim, Who would you cast in a remake?
