It had been pretty set that Patty Jenkins would direct Thor 2, which was a huge deal given that she directed Monster for which Charlize Theron won an Oscar. She had been in meetings with the cast and everything was on track for its November 2013 release date.
Key word: “was”. It looks like Jenkins is now off the project, claiming “creative differences” as her reason for leaving. This is the second director to have ditched Thor 2, even though Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones) wasn’t as much of a certainty.
According to Deadline:
I’m told that Marvel Studios is already talking to agencies as it canvasses for a new director, something that is expected to happen quickly. Her exit had to do with creative differences, but the feeling is that she’ll probably end up working on one of these superhero films, but perhaps not on a sequel.
So the studios are on the hunt for a new director, and Jenkins’ problem was probably due to being confined by the creative choices made by the director of the previous film. Whoever the new director is, they’ve got much less time to get this shit in gear. And, seriously, it’s some bad voodoo fuckery or crazy omen, or whatever the hell you wanna call it when two directors are like, “Fuck this shit, I’m gonna peace this fuckin’ scene!”
What do you guys think about this? Are things looking good for Thor 2?
