Chances are you’re gonna take a shit today. Maybe you’re taking one right now. Before you break out le smart phone and murder pigs with some angry birds, slice some fruit, or smurf your village, I’d like you to watch a trailer for Indie Game: The Movie. It’s a documentary that explores the creative process of indie game developers. The film follows the lives of three game developers and gives us a glimpse of what they have to go through when developing a game, the things they are feeling, and the trials they face. For each success story there’s ten thousand failed ones.
I go through phases of playing video games and then not about once a year. Sadly, I never really bother with Indie games, but I know there are a ton of fun titles out there. I appreciate the desire that goes into making them. I also realize that indie game developers are the true trend setters. They have the creative freedom to try things that the big boys of gaming won’t. It’s a way of exposing yourself through your work. Of course, making fun and games is anything but fun and games. Indie Game: The Movie explores this and more. Check it out below:
The Movie has been selected for competition in the World Documentary Category at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival!
