While we’ve had the chance to watch and analyze the first full trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, we still don’t really know what’s going on. Rises is set to take place eight years after the events of 2008’s The Dark Knight, we know Bane is the villain and he may or may not be working with or against the League of Shadows. Oh, and Anne Hathaway is super sexy in the skin-tight, leather Catwoman suit, we know that.

L.A. TimesHero Complex had a chance to chat with Hathaway on set about her role as the feline fatale. Not only that, but since they were on set they also shared details about a scene we haven’t seen or heard anything about. Spoilers, spoilers, spoilers below.

Gotham City is a war zone. A ruthless madman named Bane has ripped away any sense of security and the citizens, haggard and clutching suitcases with refugee anxiety, sit behind barbed wire waiting to see what will blow up next. A hooded prisoner is dragged in – it’s Bruce Wayne, one of Gotham’s most famous faces – but the eyes of the crowd go instead to the woman in black standing at the top of the staircase.

“Sorry to spoil things, boys, but Bane needs these guys himself,” says sultry Selina Kyle, played here by actress Anne Hathaway, navigating the steps with stiletto heels that, on closer inspection, turn out to have serrated edges capable of leaving nasty claw marks in a fight. She also wears high-tech goggles that, when not in use, flip up and resemble feline ears.

Huh? So the Cat is working for Bane? Or is she just making use of the chaos searching for an opportune moment to unleash her own plan?

The details they’ve given us about the new Catwoman costume are neat. Razor edged stilettos? Just think how those can play into fanboys’ twisted fantasies. Of course, what we all want is to see Hathaway in the suit, in action. Will she be using those stilettos to cut people up? She must have claws in her gloves too, right?

I love the costume. I love the costume because everything has a purpose, nothing is in place for fantasy’s sake, and that’s the case with everything in Christopher Nolan’s Gotham City.

She says everything has a purpose, so expect wild stiletto-knife fights people.

Over at Hero Complex the article goes into more detail about Hathaway’s preperation for the role as well as her inspiration. Hint, it’s not a previous Catwoman.

What do you make of these new details?
