So, let’s pretend for a moment that a sequel to the under performing Kick-Ass from 2010 might actually happen. Yes, I know Mark Millar is still really keen on it happening but there is still no real indication the movie will ever really happen. Oh sure, there is the comic book sequel (which is really great, btw) but will the movie ever happen?

F*ck’d if I know, but we now know this. Matthew Vaughn won’t be coming back to direct. Apparently Mister “I directed the very successful X-Men First Class” has closed the door on any chance for his return, at least that’s what co-screenwriter Jane Goldman says:

“I think the only thing that is fairly sure is that right now, Matthew doesn’t have any plans to direct it. He and I are not currently talking about writing it either. It may well be that Matthew oversees [‘Kick-Ass 2’] in a producer role, and I may also be involved in that capacity. I know that there is somebody that Matthew has been talking to who would be interested in writing and directing that. That would be cool.”

So, neither will write, but might produce this movie that know one is actually thinking of making? Don’t get me wrong, I’d go see it, and apparently Goldman is keen on it too.

“[Going back] is very tempting We had such a wonderful time making it. It’s such a great bunch of people, people we’d all be incredibly keen to work with again. If we could repeat the experience we had that would be wonderful. I think for whatever reason Matthew feels that he isn’t going to be directing that one.”

Well, that’s all nice, but damn it… Will this movie ever be made?

“My own feeling is that I love Mark Millar’s follow-up to the comic. I love the second volume of the comic, but whether the movie itself needs a sequel, I’m a little on the fence about that.”

Damn it Jane, get off that fence. Be the driving force that makes it happen. Yes, the second volume of the comic is great but who wouldn’t want to see it hit the big screen? Just, don’t repeat the mistakes from the first one. The gatling gun/jet pack ending was bad, very bad. As for this mystery person that Vaughn is talking to, any idea who it could be? Nerds, you may begin speculation now.
