Well, we’ve been through this before. Will The Avengers fight the Skrull? I guess not. Recently talking to Empire Marvel Studios President of Production, Kevin Feige, cleared up a few things about who the villains will be in Joss Wheadon‘s superhero team-up movie.
“Who said they were aliens?” he teases. Beings from the Nine Realms, then, ventures Empire? “Closer…It’s not Skrulls, I’ve been clear about that. Beyond that, we want to hide it. The identity of the alien race is not impactful. It exists in the comic books, but we’re not setting up the Kree-Skrull war or anything like that.”
Damn it, well while we still speculate on who the alien army is, what about the chances of seeing Hugo Weaving returning as the Red Skull?
“Was Skull vaporised at the end of the movie, or thrust into another realm?” asks Feige. “That remains to be seen. It would be fun to see Skull in future, but he’s not in this one.” Whedon though is a little more circumspect when Empire confronts him. “I do have a comment on that,” he says, before pulling a move worthy of Loki himself. “It’s…oh, you’re breaking up!”
Well crap. That’s two big movie rumors shot down and not even a hint at who (other than Loki) the bad guys will be.
Well, to sooth your now shattered nerd nerves, Empire also dumped a pile of pics (including the collectible covers) from the movie in the issue, and no. None of them contain any hints either.
