Avatar: The Last Airbender was one of Nickelodeon‘s best animated series. With a network that churns out show after show involving hyperactive weirdos running around thinking that they are funny, it was refreshing to see a animated series with some maturity to it. The Last Airbender offered great storytelling through it’s thematic elements (no pun indented) such as mysticism, philosophy, war, politics and so on. Suffice to say, a general theme of nature and harmony and all that good stuff.
Sadly, the series ended in 2008. Then came that horrid M. Night Shyamalan adaptation which all but ruined the property.
Anyhow, a follow-up to the highly successful cartoon/anime hybrid, The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra, is in full promotional mode. Our friends friends from IGN got their hands on the newest trailer.
Set 70 years after the events of the previous series, this new series follows waterbender Korra, the Avatar after Aang. Don’t expect the same cartoon either, this isn’t quite what you’ll remember from the original series (It’s all steampunky). Just check out a preview below showing Korra in action and a quick look at Aang’s son, Tenzin. That’s right, Aang’s son- player got game.
