First ‘Frankenweenie’ Trailer Shows us the Love Between a Boy and his Undead, Adorable Abomination of a Dog
Finally, Tim Burton is getting back to what he does best, making his own movies and not trying to adapt other people’s work. Honestly, when you look back over his career what are your favorite Burton pictures? Is it Edward Scissorhands or Planet of the Apes? The Nightmare Before Christmas or Alice in Wonderland? Yeah, I’m pretty sure I know which you picked.
Frankenweenie is actually a remake in its own way as it’s been adapted from Burton’s original 1984 short film of the same name, which funny enough was live action. This is also Burton’s return to stop-motion animation and it’ll be the first stop-motion movie released in IMAX 3D. Today we got our first look at trailer,
After the death of his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring him back to life. Victor tries to hide his creation, but Sparky gets out and causes havoc in the town.
I think Frankenweenie looks excellent! Just the right mix of heart and the macabre we’ve come to expect from Burton. I am waaaaaay more excited for this than I am Dark Shadows.
Supplying the voices are Winona Ryder, Charlie Tahan, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, and Tom Kenny. Surprisingly Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are not involved, and I’ve got to say, I’m relieved.
Frankenweenie opens October 5th.
