The femmes of Evil Dead are once again making headlines as one lady steps out of the lead role, and another comes to fill her shoes while ladies just add to the list. The premise of Evil Dead, being a remake and all, is as follows:
“Levy leads the cast as Mia, a troubled young woman struggling to come to terms with the recent death of her mother. She retreats into a remote cabin to detox from her drug addiction, along with a circle of friends that includes her BFF (Lucas), her estranged brother David (Fernandez), his fiancee (Blackmore), and the gang’s academic pal Eric (Pucci). While in isolation, however, the group discovers the Book of the Dead and unwittingly unleashes malicious supernatural forces.”
These dang meddling teenagers just get themselves into more shenanigans, but before their said ‘shenanigans’ can ensue these casting problems needed to clear up.
After an early snafu that saw Lily Collins landing the lead and then flying the deadite coup three weeks later due to scheduling hiccups, casting on Fede Alvarez‘s The Evil Dead is now coming along nicely. Shiloh Fernandez (Red Riding Hood) and Lou Taylor Pucci (Beginners) boarded the project last month, as Jane Levy (Suburgatory) stepped up to replace Collins.
Now the newest addition to the roster is Elizabeth Blackmore (Legend of the Seeker), while Jessica Lucas (Melrose Place) has entered talks. The actresses will play two more pals who get wrapped up in the horrors released by the Necromonicon.
No amount of pretty girlie girls are going to persuade me into thinking a remake of The Evil Dead is a good idea.
The new Evil Dead is tentatively set for April 12, 2013 realease
