I won’t try and fool you, yes this weeks Superhero Round-Up is a little heavy on The Avengers side. Cut me some slack, it’s possibly the biggest comic book movie we’ve ever seen and it it comes out in,  *checks watch*, 546 hours. On the round-up this week we have a real good look at the aliens from the above mention movie (in toy form), who director Joss Whedon first wanted the big baddie to be, the latest from the Captain America sequel and who might be in the directors chair and the possibility of (another) Hulk reboot. PLUS spoilers from the set of Man of Steel and a real nice (and I mean nice) look at Catwoman from The Dark Knight Rises.

Hit the jump and get ready for a few spoilers.

Let’s get the Avengers out of the way first, shall we?

Now we all know that Loki is the big evil in The Avengers with his mysterious alien army (more on them later), but did you know Joss Whedon wanted to add another villain to the mix? Here’s what he told The New York Times:

A specific figure. I wanted to have another guy in the mix, somebody who was up to their level, because I have all these strong guys! That was trouble. They felt the structure worked without it and it would be too much. But apart from that, everything they wanted, I completely agreed with. It’s like, “We want the Avengers not to settle their differences through talk.” O.K., good. I’m for that, too. It’s a superhero movie. Superheroics must take place.

Damn it. Just freakin say Thanos. Why are you being so coy Joss! Maybe he’s keeping this unnamed (Thanos) villain in mind for the sequel? I guess we’ll see.

Speaking of bad guys, Loki (or as you mortals call him, Tom Hiddleston) tweeted his ‘fixed’ poster for the movie:

Over at Action Figure Insider, leaked photos from a Toys ‘R Us display give us a real good look at the invading alien armada that still remains nameless.

You know, the more we see of these aliens, the more lost I get on who they are. However, we now  know they have three very large toes, so that’s something. You can see more photos here.

Now on to totally unrelated to The Avengers news. Captain America 2!

First a quick video of the star spangled man himself, Chris Evans talking about being Captain America (and also admitting that he was Human Torch once in a pair of movies we should just forget), it’s a little on the long side, but it has it’s merit.

Now, more importantly. The second Captain America movie, who will direct? /Film is reporting that we are down to the short list. George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau), and Anthony and Joseph Russo (Welcome to Collinwood), are the last two (well, three, but Tony and Joe are a team) standing. F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job) was previously rumored to be attached, but according to Deadline he as dropped out to direct the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton for New Line Cinema. We will see the solo Captain America sequel on the big screen April 4th, 2014.

Speaking of solo Avenger movies, are we ready for an all new, all different 3rd Hulk movie? Actor Mark Ruffalo seems to think we are. IGN caught up with the the latest man in the tattered purple pants of the emerald giant.

Q: Would you want to do your own Hulk [movie] after this?

MR: Why not! It was the one character — you know, I was a comic book fan when I was a kid and I always loved the Hulk. When The Incredible Hulk, that show, came on, I would not miss that. And so if I was going to find myself in that world, this would be the guy that I would be most interested in doing. To make a very short answer long: Yeah, I’d love to have him do his own movie.

You can read the whole interview here.

We have a 3 month wait for Amazing Spider-Man to hit theatres and basically the same time frame for it to hit game consoles. Activision has released this preview of the video game tie-in. You’ll be able to start webslinging on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS on June 26th.

Now for how the other guys are doing. Comic Book Movie has posted some pics of a prop that give a small taste of the events we’ll see in Zack Snyder‘s forthcoming Superman reboot, Man of Steel. Prepare yourself for the thrilling spectacle that is Lois Lanes bulletin board!

Now, before you strain your eyes trying to decipher what clues it may hold, CBM makes the claim that the zoomed in article talks of kryptonite contamination. I’m more concerned about the postage stamps, I mean really who uses snail mail these days. You can seem more photos of some of the screen seen props here.

From Superman to Batman, are you ready for a a hi-res look at Anne Hathaway‘s Catwoman? Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ have released this promo image from The Dark Knight Rises.

Me-ow.
