The Justice League movie is a property that has been in the public eye for so long, and gone so nowhere, that people have pretty much given up on it. DC and Warner Brothers have been dragging their feet on this flick, promising much and delivering little. So what’s the problem?
Marvel has done such a great job with leading up to and producing the Avengers film, it seems like it would be a given that Warner Brothers would follow suit. Batman, Green Lantern and Superman have all hit the big screens, while other projects, such as Wonder Woman, have fallen through the cracks.
One could blame the fact that the movies produced so far have been stand-alone and that they wouldn’t lend themselves well to culminating in a super-team combo flick. Joss Whedon, however, has a different take on the issue, as he stated recently:
“It’s enormously difficult to take very disparate characters and make them work. And DC has a harder time with it than Marvel because their characters are from a bygone era. Their characters were bigger than we were. They’ve amended that but Marvel really cracked the code in terms of ‘Oh, they’re just like us.’ A dose of that sort of veracity that Marvel really started with Iron Man, I think you need to use that as a base.”
So what’s the real reason? Nobody seems to know…
