Any news about a DC Comic’s character movie moving forward is good news. Lobo is the bad boy of DC comics, the “Deadpool of DC” one could say. Lobo’s got a rabid fan-base and his stories always push the limits of taste and humor. This NerdBastard has always thought that Lobo was a character that could truly break free from the DC movie curse, joining Batman in that Hollywood-Holy-Land that is a successful movie franchise.
The Lobo movie was stranded in that Hollywood limbo until Warner Brothers decided to hire Brad Peyton, (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island). Peyton will rewrite and direct Lobo, the live-action film based on the DC Comics franchise. Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman are on board to produce.
For those not already familiar, Lobo is an alien, interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. First appearing in Omega Men, Lobo was just a hard to kill villian. Then came Keith Giffen who took the character to new levels of “Badassery” with extreme violence and dark humor. During the 1990’s Lobo was the DC Comics Wolverine. It just shows DC Comics Hollywood ineptitude that a movie in the late 90’s never happened.
