According to Variety, Lockout star Guy Pearce is in “final talks” to join the cast of Iron Man 3. The film, which will be helmed by Shane Black, will pull heavily from the Warren Ellis penned “Extremis” story ark. Ben Kingsley has already been added as the primary villain, and he’ll join returning cast members Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle when filming begins next month in and around North Carolina.
If the Pearce deal becomes final, the Aussie actor will play Aldrich Killian, a geneticist who sells the Extremis technology to terrorists. Best known for his work in Memento and L.A. Confidential, Pearce can next be seen as David Weyland in Ridley Scott’s upcoming Prometheus. Of course, he can presently be seen in Lockout, but judging by last weeks box office totals, most of you don’t really seem to care about that. Iron Man can next be seen in The Avengers, debuting May 4th — all indications are you care very much about that.
