While we all wait for Microsoft to get their shit together and make a live-action Halo movie, I guess a web series will have to suffice.

With Halo 4 set to hit the shelves on November 6th, Microsoft has announced, through Variety, the planned debut of a live-action web series titled Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn that will premiere on Machinima later this year.

Planned for release as five weekly, 15-minute chapters, Forward Unto Dawn will detail Master Chief’s influence on a young United Nations Space Command (UNSC) cadet who will then appear in the game.

Set four years after the events of “Halo 3,” “Halo 4” sees Master Chief returning to confront his destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe.

A live-action Halo series is long over due. I’m sure Halo fans are skank dancing and jazz hands-ing with pure excitement. I for one, however, am a little weary. The Halo universe is filled with lush worlds, funky aliens, massive ornate architecture, wicked weaponry and awesome transports. All these things equate to a costly production. Suffice to say, way more money and effort than what a Webseries can produce. I’m sorry, but I don’t want a half assed Halo. I’ll give it a shot though.
