With it’s July 20th release date fast approaching, the marketing machine for The Dark Knight Rises has been quiet. Too quiet.
Visitors to the films official website, www.thedarkknightrises.com, are now greeted with a rather official looking investigation dossier from the GCPD. Inside they see a wanted poster for Batman, a warrant for his arrest and a list of locations.
Not really all that exciting or revealing, right? Wrong. See, they have some instructions for you.
“Submit photographic evidence of graffiti related to any movement in support of the vigilante’s return. Make sure that location services or store location is on in your camera settings. Report any and all information pertaining to the investigation to the designated contact (#tdkr07202012 or email@example.com )”
Send a photo in and what you get back is a thumbnail sized single frame from the trailer that is to be released with The Avengers this weekend! Yes, that’s right, a whole 1/24th of a second of grainy asscamera action to drool and ponder over!
Now, the forms over at Superhero Hype are currently in the process of gathering and compiling them all. You can see the fruits of their labours (at the time of this writing because I am sure by the end of the day all frames will be revealed) after the jump.
And here are some frames in non-animated gif yet still eye strainingly tiny form. Hit the thumb to view full size.
For the record, I did check to see if there was any Bat-graffiti in my town. No dice. However someone did paint a huge penis in the alley behind me.
Penis-man is the hero this city deserves apparently.
