There are only three months left till this year’s San Diego Comic Con, and we here at Nerd Bastards couldn’t be happier; it’s like 4 days of Christmas for nerds. Its exclusive panels, interviews with the hottest celebrities and sneak peaks into the year’s coming blockbusters are awesome, but screw all that! What about the collectibles?
Each year, the SDCC offers a limited supply of highly coveted figures and two of the country’s toy making companies, Mattel and Hasbro, have flashed us a bit of their upcoming goodies – in a non-criminal way of course (or not?). Let’s start off with the toy that’ll have a bit of history shall we?
Hit the jump for everything that’s going to drain your wallet this summer if you’re attending the SDCC.
What looks like a set of 3 different toys is a actually the start of an 80’s franchise: the original pitch line of Masters of the Universe, courtesy of Mattel. One figure that’s packed to the brim with accessories that can change He-man into a barbarian, a weird military/human hybrid and another barbarian, except this one has a jetpack. It was the eighties, what else would you expect?
Other exclusive announcements include Ghostbusters Dana Barret as Zuul, a DC villainesses Polly Pocket three-pack for the youngins, a PVC 5-pack of Tiny Titans figurines (seen above thanks to Toys Anxiety), and this:
A DCUC figure of Death from Neil Gaiman‘s Sandman, a collectible only a select few will have due to this thing costing an arm, a leg, and a testicle. Sorry about your luck, folks. You can see more pics of the other figures over at Poe Ghostal.
Hasbro on the other hand is all about their “robots in disguise”… and this one’s a doozy:
Sweet thrilla of Manila, that’s a huge Transformer. While retail versions of Fall of Cybertron’s Bruticus are going to be big, this SDCC exclusive is going to be bigger and badder. Also part of the Hasbro line-up will be a zombie Cliffjumper figure from the animated Transformers Prime, which you can see pics of at Seibertron.
Start checking places like eBay now, ’cause all this will be online in the coming months (and will be costing you the other nut).
