Get your superhero news right here! This edition is chock-full of Avengers with a little dash of Amazing Spider-Man, for flavor. Remember earlier this year when rumors were a’buzzin’ Spidey would be making a cameo in The Avengers? Yeah, didn’t happen, but there was a pretty great Spider-Man trailer attached, did ya catch it? And The Amazing Spider-Man isn’t that far away, releasing July 3rd. Just in time for that Avengers high to wear off.
Today saw the release of two more hi-res images promoting Amazing Spider-Man. They feature Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone surrounded by webbing. Not really sure of the implications, if any, but they’re pretty looking. Just look at those pretty actors, posing.
Hit the jump for more, unless your Avenger-ed out, in which case, I don’t know if we can friends anymore.
So this should come as a shock to absolutely no one, The Avengers has grossed $700 million worldwide in only 13 days! They already crushed the weekend opening record with $207 million, beating Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Now we just sit and wait for them to hit the $1 billion mark.
If you’ve seen The Avengers and stayed through to the end of the credits then you caught what fans are now referring to as the, “shawarma scene.” It’s a wonderful, funny without having to do much at all, coda scene, and apparently has now inspired a mad craze for shawarma. Not gonna lie, I found myself craving some shawarma afterwards. I got a gyro, which was basically the same to my ignorant, American self.
But those who went out and ordered real shawarma, give yourselves a pat on the back, you helped give shawarma sales a big boost this weekend. Good news because I was really concerned about the market for chicken meat product. According to TMZ, so yeah, right there this isn’t scientific at all, but they’re reporting, “sales of shawarma went through the roof this weekend.” One Los Angeles restaurant says their sales went up 80%! Go out an celebrate, and eat more shawarma.
Have you ever had the thought, “Y’know what could have made The Avengers even better, if they were teenaged superheroes!” After I smack you, then allow a bunch of my friends to smack you, too, I’ll show this picture.
Wow, Renner, that’s quite the mullet.
And finally, this last little bit is a HUGE SPOILER if you haven’t yet seen The Avengers. MTV’s Splash Page created a very touching little tribute to someone we lost in The Avengers. It’s a Joss Whedon flick, you can’t be surprised someone died. To check it out, click the image below.
He/she will be missed.
