Marion Cotillard Confirms She is NOT Playing Talia Al Ghul in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ – Will This Squash the Rumors?
The speculation that Marion Cotillard is secretly playing daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul, Talia in The Dark Knight Rises has been going strong ever since she was cast. Once we learned Josh Pence had been cast as a younger Ra’s and Joey King would be playing a young Talia Al Ghul it seemed all the more likely. Then it was confirmed Liam Neeson would indeed be reprising the role of Ra’s in what we suspect is nothing more than a cameo. Add in some suspicious looking set photos that put her in scenes with Bane and his Tumblers and you’ve got almost all signs pointing to yes, Marion Cotillard would appear as Talia Al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises.
Nope, wrong! At least according to Ms. Cotillard when she recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter. In that interview she revealed that Miranda Tate is,
…an ecologically minded businesswoman who “is fascinated by Wayne Enterprises. They go through difficulties, and she wants to help provide the world clean energies. She’s a good guy.” But does she stay that way? “Yes,” she insists.”
She also stated she plays “a very, very small role,” in the movie and again, insists, she is NOT playing Talia Al Ghul.
I don’t know, guys, an ecologically minded businesswoman fascinated by Wayne Enterprises? It sounds like the perfect cover for the daughter of the demon. Would you call shenanigans? Are Cotillard and Christopher Nolan just trying to misdirect us away from what we’ve already guessed?
