Well, since a third feature film for the Hulk still seems unlikely (or maybe likely, i just don’t know anymore), fans can look forward to seeing the giant green smashing machine on the small screen. The Hollywood Reporter talked with Paul Lee, the Entertainment President for ABC Studios, and he says he’d like to see more Marvel properties on TV soon and went on to confirm that the Hulk could be on the air as early as next year. “Hulk is in development, it wasn’t going to be ready this season but we hope it’s going to be ready for next season.”
Guillermo del Toro, the Oscar winning nerd that he is, is in charge of developing the project and that is really all that is known at this point.
Suppose it makes sense really, ABC is owned by Disney, Marvel Comics is owned by Disney, Disney liked to make ass loads of cash, the Avengers made them ass loads of cash. Done deal. “We’re immensely proud to be [in] company with The Avengers,” he said. “We’re going to continue to develop aggressively.”
As for other Marvel properties? Lee was hush hush on those, “we’ve got some in development, but none that I can talk about at this point.”
Interestingly, Lee also revealed that Marvel properties won’t be exclusive to ABC. “We’re very happy to make shows not just for our own network but for other networks too. Where the shows are more appropriate to our brand they’ll go with us. Where they’re more appropriate to brands like Fox or NBC, CBS, happy to do that too. We would like to see some Marvel projects move to television.”
Well, good news for Hulk fans. Now, which other characters from the Marvel Universe would be a good fit for TV? Feel free to sound off and make a nerd wish below. My vote is for the West Coast Avengers, and yes I am being serious.
