For months, Marvel Studios has been teasing that they’ve got a few more movies lined up for the next couple of years, but have been refusing to “officially” reveal the identities of said films. Speculation has been abundant and clues plentiful. But at last, the mystery is no more. The next film in Marvel’s line-up will be Guardians of the Galaxy.
There’ve been a lot of rumors following this title for months to suggest that it was going to be the one. Marvel Studios has been grabbing up trademark rights for everything having to do with Guardians, Kevin Fiege all but stated it outright that this film was in the making, and the appearance of Thanos at the end of Avengers is now said to have been a lead-in for Guardians as well as a teaser for Avengers 2.
Furthermore, Guardians of the Galaxy is supposed to be a lead-in to the 2015 Avengers sequel. Seems like they’re really working to tie all these little bits and pieces together. With the recent news about Ant-Man teasing on the tail-end of Iron Man 3, maybe we’ll get to see a new super team line-up for Avengers 2?
So far there are no announcements of who will be doing the directing, but apparently the script fort the movie is already complete. The film will get its official announcement at SDCC.
Look for Guardians to hit theaters in 2014.
