Monsters, pirates, dangerous storms on the high seas… Just another day for the legendary seaman Sinbad, who’s appearing in a new series produced by Britain’s Sky One. Sinbad premieres in the U.K. on Sunday (as well as on the Space Channel in Canada. Sorry, Americans), but a preview clip from the premiere episode has been released online. You can watch it below, and while I won’t say Sinbad’s in hot water, he’s most definitely in some deep $#!%.
Let’s roll the clip:
Sinbad stars Elliot Knight in the title role and co-stars Lost‘s Naveen Andrews as Sinbad’s archnemesis, Lord Akbari. Both actors actually have the same colored skin as the original characters, which is pleasant though genuine rarity for depictions of famous figures of Arabic mythology.
About the series:
Produced by Impossible Pictures, the 12 episode series follows the adventures of Sinbad, who is on the run from his home town of Basra and under a curse for a killing that led to the death of his much-loved brother. Sinbad finds himself cast out to sea on The Providence, a ship filled with a range of intriguing characters. After surviving a violent and magical storm, both Sinbad and his fellow shipmates are forced to band together to face their inner demons, hopes, loves and fears. Sinbad must embark on an epic and emotional quest to rid himself of the curse and embrace his destiny.
