Oddly enough, this may be the most normal thing that Johnny Depp has done in quite some time — the actor is going to do an episode of Family Guy next season, briefly returning to the role that made him famous – Edward Scissorhands. And when I say briefly, I mean Clooney as Big Gay Al’s dog on South Park briefly, because Depp’s contribution will reportedly take place in one the show’s
overdone beloved cutaway scenes.
For Depp, this is sort of a return to Rango territory, and for the animated Fox sitcom it isn’t really anything new. Seth Macfarlane‘s animated sitcom has had a solid history of bringing aboard major talent for small cameos. Who can forget Chevy Chase returning ever so briefly to play, Clark W. Griswold, Robert Downey Jr. in a more lengthy cameo as Lois’ long-lost psycho killer brother (back when he was slumming, before he was Tony Stark), and of course James Woods‘ numerous appearances as well… the James Woods that Sean Young likely thinks he is.
This is, of course, just a brief snippet of some of the news that will likely break about Family Guy this week, and we’ll keep an eye out for anything else that is relevant or mockable or both. Until then, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty.
