It’s been long rumored that former Chuck star Zachary Levi would play Fandral, one of the Warriors Three, in Thor 2. He was oringinally offered the role after all, but had to pull out due to filming commitments for the final season of the cult-adored but mass-ignored NBC show. Well, the “God of Thunder” has come knocking once more and this time — Zach said “yes”.
After months of speculation Levi confirmed through his latest appearence on the Tonight Show that he will be replacing Joshua Dallas as Fandral the Dashing. In a reversal of roles, Joshua is unable to reprise his role due his commitment fliming season two of Once Upon a Time at the same time Thor 2 is set to film.
Check out Zachary’s admission in the first minute of the interview and try to not stare directly at The Chin of Leno:
The man is already sporting the facial hair that’ll dominate 2013 and judging by the screams, fans are excited for Levi to start swinging a sword.
Directing duties this time around will be handled by Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor, who is making his feature film debut. Stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins are all set to return. Mads Mikkelsen is currently in negotiations to sign on as the villain for this return to Asgard.
Thor 2 is expected to be released in theaters everywhere on Nov. 8th, 2013.
