And This Year’s Emmy Nominations Are…

The Emmy Nominations are out! How do you think your favorite shows fared? Well, if your favorite shows are the same shows the Emmy’s always choose to honor, they fared pretty good. Basically, if you’re not a fan of AMC and HBO dramas or Modern Family, you’re outta luck. Not many surprises here, but let’s run through what awesome nominations you should be excited for.

Game of Thrones has snagged 12 nominations, many in the technical categories, but also Outstanding Drama Series and Peter Dinklage is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Really? Supporting? Who do they consider the star of this show now that Sean Bean’s left? I think it’s a snub he wasn’t in the Actor category, what about you?

Otherwise, for Dramas I’m glad to see Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Downtown Abbey and Mad Men. I have no idea what Homeland is soo, uh, good for them. But I’m not surprised by any of these picks. Nor am I surprised many of the actors and actresses from these same shows got noms.

I am pleasantly surprised – oh who am I kidding – I’m ecstatic to see Sherlock and its stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman getting some Emmy love and I’ll be distraught if they don’t win.

I’m not nearly as impressed with their choices of Comedies. Don’t hate ’em, they’re just not what I watch. Besides 30 Rock, which I rarely watch as its airing, and The Big Bang Theory, which I’ve kind of given up on in recent years, I haven’t seen these shows. I’m happy to see Futurama was nominated for Outstanding Animated Program and Maurice LaMarche is nominated for Best Voice-Over Performance. Good luck, meatbags!

Below the cut is a list of the more popular categories, for the whole list check out the Emmy’s official site. The Emmy’s happen Sunday, September 23rd, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and will air on ABC. Who will you be rooting for? Who got snubbed?
