Next month, the filming of Marvel’s next big budget super hero movie starts production. The highly anticipated Marvel sequel Thor: The Dark World. With the new director Alan Taylor and the return of star Chris Hemsworth, we’re all set to start filming a new adventure for Thor in the fields of the Bourne Wood.
The Bourne Wood isn’t some place named after Robert Ludlum‘s novel The Bourne Identity or the movie of the same name starring Matt Damon, but the very popular shooting location south of the city of Farnham, in Surrey, England.
According to a letter sent out the local residents though, the production office for a film (Cough, Cough) titled ‘Thursday Mourning’ (Thor’s day anyone?) is also shooting outside the town in August and September. Just read the letter that was sent out, via SuperHeroHype, and while it doesn’t say “Thor” anywhere in this the words “comic book hero” it’s obvious as to what is shooting in England.
We are writing to let you know about some filming about to be undertaken in Bourne Wood in the coming months. Please find a brief overview and introduction to this project.
“Thursday Mourning” is the working title of a major feature film. It is comic book adaptation set in another “fictional realm”.
We will be establishing a fictional village set in another realm, with yurts and village like dressing in the bowl. The sequence involves a battle between two kingdoms, ending in our comic book hero arriving to save the day. The sequence will involve a substantial amount of Stunts and controlled special effects all within the hours 0700 – 1900hrs.
We plan to use most of the areas that are usually occupied by film units for all our support vehicles. The sequence will involve approximately 300 extras who will arrive in the early hours prior to call time to go through costume and makeup.
Sounds like plenty of shooting will be going on in the next two months for Thor: The Dark World. We’ll keep you up to date as soon as an extra snaps a photo of the goings on, we all know it’s going to happen.
Thor: The Dark World is in theaters everywhere November 8th, 2013.
