Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at nerdybits@nerdbastards.com.

Above: The first images of Mars as sent by the Curiosity rover, left: its own shadow on the Martian surface, right: a wheel on the surface of Mars. Anyone else watch the livestream of this awesome, historic event? Twitter was basically one giant nerdgasm last night. You can keep up with Curiosity and all its incredible discoveries by following @MarsCuriosity.

Photographer Chow Kar Hoo’s series combines his two love, Hong Kong and superheroes. Check out the whole gallery at Kotaku featuring Batman, Spider-Man, Wolverine and more living every day lives.

Bow before your new King, for he has beaten not only all the Nintendo 64 games but also defended our kingdom from the onslaught of motion controlled gaming from the Lands of Wii, preserving our rightious platform. Three cheers for King of Nintendo 64. (Fashionably Geek)

If you’re going to collect and display your LEGOs, make sure you do it with style. Then maybe you won’t get ridiculed for being 35 with no kids but you still have toys scattered throughout the house. (Nerd Approved)

This new The Dark Knight Rises toy is going to need to be sold behind the counter or in all black box. Just something because it features one major spoiler. Head to Comics Alliance for the un-pixellated reveal.

Get ready to feel inadequate! The 501st Legion, Vader’s very best, have built a life-size Rancor for  Star Wars Celebration VI. Visit Nerd Approved for more pics and video. But seriously, what have you done lately? Something this cool? I doubt it.

Another day, another Grand Theft Auto mod. This one allows you to carjack the Tumbler from The Dark Knight Trilogy. And yes, it comes with a functioning Bat-Pod. (Comics Alliance)

Speaking of Batman, he’s no stranger to video games, y’know. Okay he totally is, but as the World’s Greatest Detective he can figure it out. Here he is playing HALO with Robin. Achievement unlocked when you recognize the famouse Batman meme brought to life in this short. (Kotaku)

As cool as the Mars rover, Curiosity is, it took less than$2 billion for these dudes to build two fully functional Wall-E’s. Just sayin’. (TDW: Geek)

I’ve shared dozens of trailer mashups throughout Nerdy Bits, and many tend to use the easily malleable ponies of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. But I’m telling ya, even if you hate ponies this mix of MLP with James Bond’s latest, Skyfall, is frighteningly good. (Bleeding Cool)
