Resident Evil: Retribution, starring Milla Jovovic‘s ass, is the 5th and final movie in the Resident Evil franchise. And thank god for that. If Paul W.S. Anderson made another one of these gawd awful movies, I’d, well, I dunno what I’d do. All I know is I would be very mad about it.
It’s rant time…
The popularity of these films is beyond me. I mean come on, they don’t even honor the video game series from which they’re based. Anderson took the names of characters and a few recognizable monstrosities and did whatever the hell he wanted. It’s like “oh, lets make Alice a super hero and make hundreds of leather-clad clones of her. And, lets shoot a whole bunch of slow-mo scenes in the rain. Yeah, fans will love that!” Also, IMO, Anderson didn’t even make movie. Every flick in the franchise, so far, has been nothing but a hyper stylized music video, with dazzling fight scenes timed with some butt-rock anthem. I’m not asking for a Oscar-worthy screen play or anything, but give me a decent story with characters and motivations I actually care about. Amirite?
OK, enough of my gibber-jabber. For those that care, Screen Gems has released two new TV spots for Resident Evil: Retribution.
The movie stars Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe and Li Bingbing.
The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, ALICE (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.
