The Avengers hit the big screen with a fury (pun definitely intended), breaking box-office records, causing fans to pee themselves silly and generally kicking ass and taking names. It’s still on screens everywhere and still selling tickets. And, of course, despite how little time has passed, people hungrily seek out news as to what’s going on with Avengers 2 and Marvel Studios happily provides it.
First and foremost, they said “Yeah, we’re doing it!” Ok, cool. Then it was a promise of new classic team-members joining up for the sequel. And who can forget just a few days ago when Joss Whedon was confirmed as director? Now, the latest bit of news – a possible release date.
A recent statement made by Marvel Studios holds the clue to this sacred date:
Marvel has a very set agenda of what they want to do, they are already kind of ahead of the game [on the sequel] because they’ve got the guy that did it before doing it again and something tells me Joss already has the template [for the film]. In terms of the time frame, I think that it is well in the works. … It looks like the release date might be May 1, 2015, but that can change depending on people’s schedules.
If it’s true, it will be the first of 2015 and the start up of yet another year of the Marvel Studios movie barrage. Next year we get Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 and in 2014 come Captain America 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy. Combined with potential DC titles for the next few years, we can expect a non-stop stream of super heroes to delight and entertain.
