Get the big old grain of salt ready, ’cause the Avengers 2 rumors are already starting. Earlier, actor/director/android Vin Diesel changed the profile picture (temporarily) on his official Facebook page to that of the Marvel Comics character/superhero/android, Vision. When the folks over at Comic Book Therapy noticed, the speculation began. Could these be an early clue that he wants the role? Is this a sign that the Ultron created synthezoid will be in the next movie?
I’m going to hazard a guess and say no. Joss Whedon has just recently signed to return as the helm of the Marvel Studios movie and with its tentative release date set for May 1st, 2015, the movie is still in the early stages of planning so it is doubtful at best.
If there is any truth to this even being a possibility, I do look forward to seeing what kind of car Vision drives in the sequel, not to mention the Ed Hardy inspired costume redesign.
For the record, the profile picture on my Facebook is currently me as the Red Hulk. That does not mean I have accepted or am seeking to play that role in a Marvel Studios movie. Kevin Feige, you know where to reach me.
In related news, the insanely speculative fanboy dream of Vision actually being a resurrected Agent Coulson now has a face (and an upper torso.) Sculpture and Makeup Effects Forum user bhsfx has crafted this amazingly life like bust of actor Clark Gregg as the resident robot to Earths Mightiest Heroes.
Check it out after the jump, its pretty amazing really.
Personally, I think that if they were going have Vision in the movie and we had to chose between Gregg and Diesel the choice is clear. Gregg would be awesome and it’d be nice to see the character back for sentimental reasons. That being said, I would prefer the bust of Gregg as the Vision over Diesel. At least the bust is honest about being an inanimate lump of clay.
