A couple of weeks ago, some audacious rumor was started suggesting that Ben “The Bomb in Phantoms” Affleck was Warner Bros. top pick to direct Justice League; DC/WB’s equivalent to Disney/Marvel’s The Avengers. Naturally the internet ate it up and shat it everywhere, something Mr. Affleck didn’t seem too keen on:

A later article by Deadline busted the rumor. Now the actor/director himself has commented on the situation. Asked about Justice League by a Canadian outlet, Affleck said:

I’m not working on the Justice League. One of the problems with entertainment web sites is that they need to fill pages, and that’s how rumours get started… Justice League sounds really exciting, but it’s not something I’m working on.

Oi!, if it was such idle gossip, why didn’t he slam it down sooner?

In other absolutely factual news that is not based on speculation at all…

Moviehole.com is suggesting Warner Bros. has  a smallish list of directors they’re talking to about Justice League, and Andy and Lana Wachowski  are high on the list.

Basically, from the report, Moviehole heard “whispers” from guy who knows a guy, who knows a guy close to management. So please, take this with a huge grain of salt, or as an absolute indication that this is totally happening and that Affleck wanted to instead focus on acting in the movie and on physically becoming Darkseid.

Gosh I wonder if the Wachowskis will wait 2 weeks to shoot this down since being linked to what will be a surefire billion dollar franchise starter is so damaging to their careers…
